Veldhoven’s Mayor Decision Unlawful: Independent Commission Decides

Veldhoven's mayor decision to cancel YPFDJ conference was unlawful
See you in Court. “Mayor Jack Mikkers of Veldhoven should not ban the YPFDJ Eritrean youth conference” : The objection Commission judges.

BY MANON VAN DEN BREKEL *

According to members of the Committee, the Mayor of Veldhoven “did not make any effort” in seeking for other solutions. They advise the mayor to revoke his decision. But that advice puts Mayor Mikkers aside: he insists that he had taken the right decision.

At the beginning of April, the YPFDJ, an organisation associated with the Eritrean government, organised a meeting at the Koningshof conference Centre in Veldhoven. More than 120 asylum seekers who fled from Eritrea demonstrated at the gates of Koningshof against this meeting. When outrages broke out, Mikkers cancelled the conference.

Riots

The Committee members agree with the mayor that ‘serious riots ‘ took place. Also according to them, the fear of more riots was justified and intervening was therefore necessary.

However, according to the objections committee, this does not mean that the conference could be banned entirely because the riots were not caused by the Conference goers but by others.

The mayor already indicated that, according to him, there were simply not enough policemen available to guard the entire site of Koningshof, but according to the objections Committee, Mayor Mikkers does not sufficiently substantiate that assertion.

In an attempt to do so, Mayor Jack Mikkers writes that both Koningshof and the police were indicating that they could not guarantee the safety of the conference goers and the protesters. After the protesters were arrested “the police explicitly asked me to make use of my emergency powers and to ban the conference”.

Compensation

The Conference guests have requested compensation. However, the Objections committee does not rule on this. In the opinion of the Commission, the mayor has to take a position on this.

Therefore, Mayor Mikkers does so in his letter: he rejects the compensation.

For the objectors, the issue is now open to the court. “It’s up to my clients [PFDJ] to decide whether we’re going to the court after this or not,” lawyer Bart-Jan Walraven responds. He represents the conference goers.

“I think it is very likely that we do.”

We are going to the court.

    • Simon

wow what a shocking news…pfdj believes in a court.

“We don’t believe in the EEBC (Eritrea Ethiopia Border Commission) Decision Court Ruling.”
… Time to upgrade your IQ? LOL.

Did you type these words from TPLF jail house?

        • B.Adal

Already released from TPLF Jail … only to be “house” arrested in Bish’ftu’s Donkey Barn.

  • Sophia Tesfamariam @stesfamariam : Vindication for those of us who witnessed the violent attacks by Prof. Mirijam and hooligans against the peaceful YPFDJ EU conference attendees

Eritreans vindicated! Witnessed the racist and xenophobic acts where peaceful YPFDJ conference goers were attacked by Mirijam hooligans

  • cane libero

I’m sure mikkers didn’t have any idea about the identity of YPFDJ and it’s root and in big, the Eritrean History, the EPLF, the against all odds. etc, I think even that “experts of my boots” maira ven frozen, otherwise they should abandon the game as in a play of chess lay their king.

  • Lalmba

I think yes, we should go to court and sue the pant of that ugly mayor. What a jerk. In the suet, The white trash professor and all the enemies of Eritrea in that country should be included in the court of law.

  • Betri Haqi

“Betri Haqi Tighten ember Aytisiberin.” Eritrea always win out in the end. Eritrea always wins when it goes to court because it is a righteous nation with righteous people.

    • Natnael

Except in the case of Hanish when our islands were illegally given to a country that never possessed them (Yemen) based on fabricated historical maps/documents. I still cant believe Hanish islands are Yemeni. It upsets me more than illegal Zalambessa verdict.

      • Betri Haqi

Well, you win some and you lose some. The point is, Eritrea is still a righteous nation. Because even when it doesn’t win on the rare occasions it still complies with the verdict because it honors its word. Compare to the treacherous people who suffer from inferiority complex south of our border. They are a bunch of weasels and cheats.

        • FYI

Eritrea lost the island but wins legally the maximum maritime space and its entire natural resource beneath it. Yemen don’t even have the right for fishing on those Islands. Can you imagine that? That’s why they end up imprisoned in Eritrean jails for trespassing. It took them some years to understand how much they lost in the court settlement with Eritrea. That’s the biggest win for Eritrea BTW.

  • Biniam Araya

It’s mama Eritrea’s motto that patience along the truth on your side will be the winner and we”ve shown one after another. My main concern and curiosity on this ugly event is not about that mayor, but on those stooges, so-called Eritreans that were part of it. Let them get the justice that is deserved for them

  • Nohh Berhe Tesfai

If it possible why not go to court.

    • One Observer

Ok, here is the answer: they don’t have a real (old fashion) contract.

PS. Sentek or any other TPLFite, please don’t dispute this fact unless you provide us with an actual copy of TPLF contract for foreign investors in commercial farming.

      • One Observer

**** TN please delete this if possible***** Sorry. I got mixed up with the news about TPLF farmer letter.

120 asylum seekers from Northern Ethiopia who demonstrated under a false identity are equally criminals as their white masters and black puppets.

  • Traitors Acting like oposition

It’s all about racism. Doch you think they would do it if for example a White party have peacefull Congress and some Nazi demonstrate outside? No No . THIS happens every day in Europa, but we never heard about a cancelation of a peacefull meeting.
So of course we need to go to the court. THIS would send the message to the World ” don’t try to play with ” Deki Ere”

    • Robel

Yes Netherlands is so racist that they allowed 8000 Eritreans in their country last year and gave them asylum. So racist that they have accepted over 20.000 Eritreans over the last decades. Eritreans that risked their lives crossing deserts and seas to make it to ‘racist’ Holland, even though nobody in Holland has any desire for Eritreans. Even the national football team of Eritrea has asked for asylum. Next time, think before you write.

  • L.T

Yes,we have to go to Court even to the highest Court of the European Union if it needs,if it is necessary that they would not do again and sue them with many millions and we will received compensation for common harmlessness, they will never silence us in the future,it is backlash for them ….now if you look at him he is a freaky guy with rabbit teeth……..-)

  • Even if the road takes long the victory, truth and rights will always come out. Lomi zeketete, kota z’mekete.
