ACCORDING to information published on AirlineRoute (AR) website , Turkish Airlines will start its maiden flight to Asmara on the 19th of August 2014.
Citing flight schedule data loaded in the airline GDS system, AR confirms that flight TK578 will operate three times weekly from Istanbul Ataturk – Taif – Asmara using the next-generation Boeing 737 – 800 aircraft.
The Airline does not have traffic rights yet to carry local traffic between Taif and Asmara sector.
This news put to rest all previous rumors in connection to the starting dates of Turkish Airlines scheduled flight to Asmara.
According to Ambassador Firat Sunel, two Turkish Airlines delegations paid visit to Eritrea since the signing of Civil Aviation Agreement on 11th February 2014 between the two countries. Technical works along with considerations of various plannings on the alternative routes are what drags the dates of commencement.
Currently, Turkish Airlines is the number one airline company in the world in terms of flying the most countries (105) out of which the 25 countries and 36 cities are in Africa.
As of late August, Asmara will be the newest destination for the Istanbul-based airline.
