Eritrea and Italy share a long history that dates back over a century. Recently, the Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, paid a one day visit to Eritrea upon the invitation of Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki. ካብ ካምፓላ ንቪኦኤ ዝተዛረቡ ፕረሲደንታዊ ኣማኻሪ የማነ ገብረኣብ፡ ፕረሲደንት ኢሳያስ ኣፈወርቂ ምስ ናይ ኡጋንዳ ፕረሲደንት ዩወሪ ሙሰቪኒ ኣብ ቤተ መንግስቲ ኢንተበ ንልዕሊ ሓደ ሰዓትን ፈረቓን በይናዊ ርክብ ከምዘካየዱን፡ ኣብ ጸጥታውን ቁጠባውን ጉዳያት ከምዝተዘራረቡን ሓቢሮም።

`ዑደት ኡጋንዳ ተነጽሎ ንምሕዋይ ድዩ? ንኣልሸባብ ትድግፉ ስለዝብሃል፡ ምስ ሙሰቪኒ ዝርርብ ማዕረ ክንደይ ከቢድ ወይ ቀሊል ክኸውን`ዩ` ዝብል ሕቶታት ቀሪቡሎም ኔሩ ንኣቶ የማነ።

Eritrea so far Unaffected by Drought or Famine

Situation is normal and manageable but if goes beyond our means, we will ask help

A political advisor to Eritrea’s President Isaias Afewerki says Asmara has implemented measures to ensure that citizens are unharmed by the effects of drought and famine in the Horn of Africa region. Yemane Ghebreab denied reports that a food crisis is forcing Eritreans to flee to neighboring countries.

“There [are] no food shortages in Eritrea at the present time. Last year, we had a bumper harvest. We have also built up our reserves in terms of food stocks by importing food, so we will be ready for any emergency,” said Ghebreab. Continue reading Eritrea so far Unaffected by Drought or Famine

Eritrean Foreign Minister Meets Ban Ki-moon

After Eritrea’s foreign minister Osman Saleh Mohammed met Monday with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, his Permanent Representative to the UN Araya Desta gave Inner City Press a read-out of the meeting.

Ambassador Desta said that Somalia was discussed, with Eritrea explaining its view that in Somalia there can be no military solution and all sides have to be represented, with the solution coming from Somalis and not from the outside. Sudan didn’t Participate in the IGAD Meeting; It Rejects the Sanction Call: Yemane Ghebreab (AUDIO)

The head of Political Affairs in Eritrea’s ruling party – PFDJ, Mr. Yemane Ghebreab, in his latest interview with the Voice of America (VOA) Tigrinya service disclosed that Sudan didn’t participated in the infamous July 4th IGAD summit in Addis Ababa, and in fact it later strongly rejected the final communiqué that calls for another round of sanction on Eritrea’s economic and mining sectors.
