FM Tedros Adhanom – A Disgrace to Ethiopia’s Once Reputed Diplomacy

Tedros Adhanom interview VOA
What good could possibly come out of a malaria-researcher-turned-instant-foreign-minister of the TPLF who hangs in the wings to become prime minister.

By Engidu Woldie,

Ethiopia’s top diplomat, Tedros Adhanom, gave a lengthy interview to the Voice of America’s Tizita Belachew of the Amharic service in which he once again brought shame on himself and his TPLF comrades. We will revisit here some of the ridiculous remarks he made while he was answering, or rather, evading questions by the VOA broadcaster as well as pertinent questions by listeners of the VOA, thereby unmasking who the individuals claiming to rule Ethiopia really are.

The malaria expert turned Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister (anything is possible under the rule of the TPLF – with all due respects to malaria scientists out there – and any person with close ethnic ties to the powers that be can assume government positions; merit has no place) was full of a hodge-podge of nonsensical ideas. Indeed unbecoming of a diplomat. Continue reading FM Tedros Adhanom – A Disgrace to Ethiopia’s Once Reputed Diplomacy

Tigrai Online Misrepresentation of Neamin Zeleke’s Interview with VOA

Setting the Record Straight.

By Engdu Wolde,

Tigrai online has recently published an article with an apparent objective of misrepresenting the content of an interview conducted by the VOA with Mr. Neamin Zeleke, Head of Foreign Affairs of Patriotic Ginbot 7. The interview came after a major political development in Ethiopia’s recent history of popular resistance when four opposition groups formed the United Movement for the Salvation of Ethiopia through Democracy (UMSED).

The Movement, formed by the Afar Revolutionary Democratic Unity Front, the Tigray People’s Democratic Movement, Amhara Democratic Forces Movement and Patriotic Ginbot 7 Movement for Unity and Democracy, has a clear mission of ending tyranny in Ethiopia using all possible means Continue reading Tigrai Online Misrepresentation of Neamin Zeleke’s Interview with VOA

Voice of America (VOA) With-in the Eritrean Context

The Voice of America (VOA) is the “Official” spokesman of the United States government in the arena of international shortwave radio. But despite its popularity throughout the world and the millions of dollars of public funds that compromise its yearly budget, the Voice is little-known and even less understood by Americans. Why? Because it was designed to manipulate world public opinion including Eritreans to that of its sponsor – the State Department.

By Amanuel Biedemariam,

WHEN listening to the Voice of America (VOA) Tigrigna one must ask why is there a need for such a program. What are the reasons that the US spends tremendous resources on broadcasters, technical experts, directors, editors and on expensive equipments to reach Eritrea? What does the US gain from broadcasting in Tigrigna into Eritrea? Why not Tigre or Bilen? How does that benefit or hurt Eritrea? What are the missions and purposes of the VOA? These types of questions are what every Eritrean must ask when consuming information provided by outlets like Deutsche-Welle, BBC and in this case, the VOA.  Continue reading Voice of America (VOA) With-in the Eritrean Context

Ethiopia Demanding Ali Abdu Blacklisted From any VOA Programs?

Meles wants Ali Abdu banned from VOA. Is he joking?

By TesfaNews,

It’s been a while since the Meles Zenawi (Chenawi) regime gone extremely wild.  After two decades on the helm of the Ethiopian population, Meles Zenawi does not even tolerate the opinion of others including those he has forced them into exile. He wants to be the only person in the country to speak his mind with arrogance and impunity.

His latest stupidity was reflected on the 42 pages dossier he submitted to the VOA and Board of Broadcasting Governers (BBG) officials as evidence to support his complaints against VOA radio. The Voice of America (VOA) has been a target of the tyrannical regime for a couple of years that jams its broadcast frequencies to Ethiopia using Chinese technology.
