Ogaden Community in Kenya Requests Extra Protection During Upcoming Ethiopian Election

Kenya-Ogaden Communities urged to remain cautious as fears of cross-border persecutions of Ogaden refugees will increase as Ethiopian election approaches

THE Kenya-Ogaden Community is taking all possible precautions as Ethiopia prepares for the May 15 national election.

Head of the Ogaden Refugee Council, Eng. Ahmed Sadik, has urged Kenyan authorities to exercise extreme vigilance during upcoming Ethiopian elections as there are fears that cross-border persecutions of Ogaden refugees will increase as was seen in the run-up to the 2010 Ethiopian elections.

Mr Sadik called on the government of Kenya to be aware of Ethiopian assailants and those conspiring with them to ensure that they would not harm anyone on Kenyan territory.

The “Ethiopian Exodus” that Floods Yemen

Political chaos in Yemen helped the country’s smugglers to thrive using the thousands of migrants from the Horn of Africa who are desperate to use the country as a gateway to Saudi Arabia. In September 2014, for instance, the RMMS reported 12,768 arrivals predominantly from Ethiopia, representing the single largest monthly influx on record. Many of the migrants in the new spike are the same ones that were deported to Ethiopia by the Saudis.

Danish Immigration Report and Human Rights Watch

Why does reports by Human Rights Watch on Eritrea are in stark contrast to that of the report recently prepared by the Danish Immigration Service?

JUST hours after the Danish Immigration Service (DIS) released its fact-finding mission report on the real human rights situation in Eritrea last month, the so-called Eritrean opposition groups, Human Rights Watch, and other human rights charlatans were frantically trying to spin the news anyway they can.

Among the first to complain about the report was Professor Gaim Kibreab, who whined on various European news outlets claiming the Danish team had taken what he said out of context, even though immediately after reading the report, the aging intellectual had expressed to DIS via emails that it was a “well written and informative report.” Continue reading Danish Immigration Report and Human Rights Watch

UNCONFIRMED reports from Eastern Sudan indicates that Rashaida Bedouins and Sudanese security forces reportedly staged a deadly attack upon Eritrean refugees inside the Shagarab-1 refugee camp in eastern Sudan.
