The Delegation of the European Union to Eritrea and UNDP Eritrea signed Contribution Agreement to strengthen the National Statistics and Macroeconomic Statistics Systems in Eritrea.
The European Union Delegation to Eritrea and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed yesterday (29) a 5.75 million Euro Contribution Agreement for implementing the four-year project to Strengthening the National Statistics and Macroeconomic Statistics Systems (SENSS) of Eritrea. Community involvement is the hallmark of Eritrea’s fight against COVID-19
In Eritrea, containment measures are managed by the wardens and members of the community holding each other accountable for the common good of the society.
The COVID-19 has so far defied logic by voraciously impacting poor and rich countries with equal measure. But in Eritrea, only 39 infections and zero deaths have been reported so far.
This may be largely due to the country harnessing its social capital, in partnership with UNDP.

In 2014, the Office of the Auditor General in Eritrea was named the best performing institution in the region. UNDP continues to work with OAG to enhance capacity for financial, compliance and performance audits in the country.
The Africa Supreme Audit Institute (AFROSAI) convened a weeklong workshop on financial, performance and compliance audits at the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) in Eritrea. The aim of the workshop, which was held from 22 to 26 May 2017, was to equip Eritrea auditors with relevant skills in compliance to the international auditing standards. Qhubeka, a NGO based in South Africa, distributed 708 bicycles to Eritrean students, through the Qhubeka scholar mobility project. The 708 was an addition to 220 bicycles distributed via the same initiative in 2015.
Excited students from various schools, parents, guardians and officials from the Government and the UN convened at the Eritrea Commission of culture and sports on 2nd February 2017 for the handover ceremony. The event was organized by Eritrea Ministry of Education and the Commission of culture and sports.
