Ethiopia: PAFD Frankfurt Public Meeting and Resolution

PAFD is a political alliance united for the struggle to free the oppressed peoples in Ethiopia and it was been established on the 23rd of October 2015 in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, by five different political organizations, namely: The Benishangul People’s Liberation Movement (BPLM), the Gambela People’s Liberation Movement (GPLM), the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), the Sidama National Liberation Front (SNLF).

The Peoples Alliance for Freedom and Democracy (PAFD) public meeting hosted by Oromo Student Union and Ogaden Community in Germany was held on 9th of April 2016 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

It was attended by two Executive committee members of PAFD, human rights advocators, invited guests, Veteran members of successful liberation movements, representatives of youth and Women and generally by the peoples and nations of member organizations of PAFD. OLF Denies Expelling General Kemal Gelchu

Like the saying that goes, “If you can’t convince them, confuse them”

The Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) today denies media reports of General Kemal Gelchu’s expulsion as Chairman of the OLF-for-Change and accused certain disgruntled group of the organization for the baseless report.

In a latest press release today, the OLF re-assured that General Kemal Gelchu is still in charge of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF).

“We would like to assure the Wider Oromo people at home and in diaspora that the general is in full command of the Organization and the information given by few failed individuals of our Organization is false and baseless.”  Continue reading OLF Denies Expelling General Kemal Gelchu

General Kemal Gelchu Expelled from OLF

The Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) Executive Committee today announced the removal of General Kemal Gelchu as its Chairman and purged him from the organization effective immediately.

A press release from the organization cites “poor leadership qualities and dictatorial actions” by General Kemal Gelchu as the main reason for the political decision.

The former Ethiopian army general who fled to Eritrea in 2006 with a heavily armed regiment of 150 soldiers has since  lived there, where OLF maintains its headquarters as well as military base. Continue reading General Kemal Gelchu Expelled from OLF
