UAE ‘Downsizing’ Eritrea Military Base

The United Arab Emirates is withdrawing at least some of its forces from a base it established in 2015 at Assab airport in Eritrea to support operations in Yemen and the Red Sea, satellite imagery published by the Associated Press on 18 February indicates.

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry held a telephone conversation with his Eritrean counterpart Osman Saleh to discuss the release of Egyptian fishermen detained in Eritrea.

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, held a telephone meeting with his Eritrean counterpart, Osman Saleh, to discuss the release of Egyptian fishermen detained in Eritrea.

Former US Ambassadors to Ethiopia: Fanning the Flames of Conflict

“The Eritrean army have not entered the Tigrayan territory, that the only area where they are in the area that corresponded to the disputed territory between the two countries that in the peace agreement was decided to give back to Eritrea.” – UN Secretary-General

In a letter they sent to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, four former US Ambassadors claims that the “alleged” presence of Eritrean troops in the Tigray region, despite denied repeatedly by the gov’t, could be a threat to the “territorial integrity of Ethiopia”.
