Gulf Crisis: Eritrea Backs Saudi Arabia and Allies, Ethiopia on the Fence

For quite some time, Eritrea was suffering from Qatar’s manipulative and irresponsible policy in the region. When it was provided with opportunity, Eritrea do not hesitate to declare enough with Qatar. “For Eritrea, this is a timely issue that warrants its active support […] as such, it is not a matter that requires invitation of the Eritrean Government or solicitation of its vote.”

Eritrea has backed Saudi Arabia and its allies in the ongoing Gulf diplomatic crisis that started last week after Gulf nations cut ties with Qatar for allegedly supporting extremist groups.

Zayed University Offers 20 Scholarships to Outstanding Eritrean Students

A total of 20 distinguished Eritrean students enjoyed a fruitful and promising learning experience at Zayed University’s classrooms with their counterparts.

In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Eritrean students were offered scholarships that aim to nurture the minds of future generations through education. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) appears to be constructing a new port next to Assab International Airport in Eritrea, which could become its first permanent military base in a foreign country.

Satellite imagery shows rapid progress has been made since work began sometime after September 2015. A square of coastline measuring about 250×250 m has already been excavated and dredged, while a pier and/or breakwater is being constructed and already extends over 700 m from the original coastline.
