Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki said that a broader scope and an all-embracing strategic solution is crucial to attain a durable deal in resolving outstanding CPA issues between Sudan and South Sudan.
Afwerki made the comments while conferring with visiting EU Special Representative for Sudan and South Sudan, Rosalind Marsden at the presidential palace in Asmara last Thursday 4 July.
The Minster of Information and Government spokesperson, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin has stated that Eritrea’s support to the struggle of the people of South Sudan includes paying a lot of human sacrifices. He mentioned this salient remark when he met the visiting Eritrean Foreign Minister, Mr. Osman Saleh, in his office, yesterday, in the capital Juba.
It has been 56 years in the making, but it is finally here. The year 1955 marks the beginning of the struggle of the people of South Sudan for dignity and self-determination; July 9, 2011, the successful completion of that epic national effort.
The odds were never easy for the people of South Sudan. They had to overcome immense difficulties and pay a heavy price in a journey full of twists and turns, successes and near fatal setbacks. But they found within themselves the fortitude and the capability- political, military and diplomatic- to sustain their liberation movement until victory.
