A NEW facility that includes Cardiac and Neurology Centers along with an Oxygen producing plant has been inaugurated today at the Orotta Referral Hospital.
The additional building complexes and modern equipments was built through a joint cooperation between the Eritrean and Chinese governments at a total expenditure of USD 5 million.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister of health Ms. Amina Nur-Hussien outlined the duration of diplomatic relations between Eritrea and the People’s Republic of China, and commended the PRC’s active participation in Eritrea’s nation-building endeavors in general and the health domain in particular.
Likewise, the PRC Ambassador to Eritrea, Mr. Niu Qiang, lauded the growing relations of partnership between Eritrea and his country. He also noted the strengthening of bilateral relations in the political, economic and cultural domains.
Dr. Habteab Mehari , the Coordinator of Referral Hospitals in Eritrea, on his part explained that the Oxygen Plant facility made available at the Orotta National Referral Hospital produces, among other inputs, over 250 square meter Oxygen daily. Moreover, the facility has the capacity of distributing the requisite Oxygen supply nation-wide.
The Orotta Referral Hospital oxygen producing plant has been set up in November 2010 with the help of ArcheMed of Germany that made possible for the first time to transmit oxygen to 500 beds per day through pipeline.
