Alexander Isak Becomes Sweden’s Youngest Goalscorer of All Time

105 years later, the 17 year-old Eritrean-Swedish player made history to become Sweden national team’s youngest scorer of all time.

The then 18-year-old Erik Dahlström’s record from 1912 is now erased from Sweden’s history books thanks to the 17-year-old top youngest scorer Alexander Isak.

By Aaron West,

Alexander Isak has had a week to remember. He made his debut against the Ivory Coast on Sunday, becoming the second-youngest player ever to turn out for the national team.

On Thursday, he went a step further as his 19th-minute goal against Slovakia made him Sweden’s youngest ever goalscorer.

Isak has been making waves around Europe for some time now. He’s the Swedish top flight’s youngest ever goalscorer at 16 years and six months, and now, at the age of 17 years and 113 days, he holds Sweden’s record for youngest-ever scorer in national team history, breaking a record that’s stood for 105 years.

Real Madrid are rumored to have already had a bid rejected for the young Swede, with his performances for AIK in his home country prompting scouts from around the continent to monitor his progress.

Standing at 6’2″, powerfully built, with silky skills and a ruthless streak in front of goal, Isak is already drawing the inevitable comparisons with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Becoming Sweden’s youngest goalscorer isn’t going to hurt his case.

Sweden beat Slovakia, 6-0 in Thursday’s friendly.

  1. What a foot or feet or brain, I want to see this guy in live action, the video clip is not fulfilling my admiration to this young Eri blood!!

TN please don’t delete my plea until Isak he star sees it.

      1. All beautiful goals … and makes them look like effortless goals. He is very smart young man, who seem to know when he should be the second before his wonderful goals. God/Allah Bless him. Thanks TN. Time to buy & show-off in his Jersey 🙂

      2. Dear TN, I thank you and with respect, I have somehow an aversion for Expressen and I wanted to be on the sitting terraces physically not watching Expressen’s TV!!

        1. Wedinakfa bro. with all do respect we all have the same feeling about EXPRESSEN the #1 hater of Eritrea. But like TN said it in comment bellow, they don’t have any monopoly on information including all so called mainstream media any more.Let them RIP.We have so many outlets. The only one thing i like about TRUMP is he hates those who use to be untouchables and makers and braker’s corporate (CIA) media so much he is discredit and humiliating them in public.I call it blessing in disguise.

          1. Why are they the number 1 hater? Because they refuse to let the case of their fellow citizen Dawit Isaac rest? A man who has been imprisoned for over a decade by the tyrannical regime together with dozens of his colleagues, generals and even ministers. Don’t blame some small newspaper in Scandinavia for the bad situation that Eritrea has come in.

          2. You call Dawit Issac their fellow citizen? what a joke they care about Dawit because he was their hired tool (fool) other than that in their eyes he is just another Nigger from Africa.

  2. I just love it!!! … Here we go, another winner of Eritrean Gene, this time made in Sweden (Swedish Amiche). It seems it does not matter where in the world you plant an Eritrean seed, they will turn out to be an awesome winners.
Congratulations to Isak and his parents.

  3. He’s a real talent and I am sure he’s going to do well. As a Barcelona fan, I’d love to see him play for Blaugranes at Camp Nou. Did anybody see yesterday’s Barca vs. Athletico Bilbao in the Copa del Ray sweet 16? Yup! Barca advanced to quarterfinals. All 3 Neymar, Messi and Suarez scored a goal.

Alexander Isak’s activities for the past month shows that this young man is for real. While on break from the Swedish Premier league, there has been a lot of speculation as to where he will end up in a trade.

Alexander has been closely linked to many of Europe’s top teams including Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern, Juventus, Paris St. Germain, Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City and many more.

There are also many second level teams who have been attempting to get him by promising more playing time. His team AIK Stockholm is taking the value of his skills very seriously and have opted to wait before making an official trade.

With the trade deadline coming to an end at the end of January, we shall wait and see which team will spend the most amount of money for Alexander.

Alexander gets selected for the Senior Swedish National Team

Until recently Alexander had only played with the under 17 Swedish National team, however, in early December while he was vacationing in Thailand with friends, he got a call from the Swedish National team coach that on January 3, 2017 the Senior national team will be travelling to to Abu Dhabi to play friendly games against Ivory Coast and Slovakia.

Coach Janne Andersson was very excited to see him play as the young Eritrean-Swede had fully justified himself in his ability to perform on the field.

He was an obvious choice even though he was very young.

AIK Coach Rikard Norling confirmed that while he is still evolving as a player, he was ready to be a part of the national team.

Alexander makes his debut with the senior national Team of Sweden at age 17

The teenage forward dubbed the heir to Zlatan Ibrahimovic became the youngest Swedish international in more than a century when he came on as a substitute in a 2-1 friendly defeat to Ivory Coast on Sunday January 8th, 2017.

Eri-International Sports observed every move he made while he was in the game and it was clear that Alexander had the maturity of a more seasoned player.

Challenging the Elephants of Ivory Coast a pretty strong team getting ready for the African nations cup, he was able to hang with the best of them.

At age17 years and 109 days, Alexander became the second youngest player ever to wear the yellow and blue colors of Sweden in the 2-1 loss against Ivory Coast.

While it would have been nice to see him wearing the Eritrean colors, he continues to be an inspiration to many young Eritreans, Swede and other youth.
